Hello Prayer Partners,

I pray you are all enjoying the Christmas Season, and delighted by the most wonderful gift of our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ, the son of the living God....

I wanted to share with you the story told to me when I met with the sponsorship committee in Kenya. It is the story of Mama Yashmin, Saumu, and Gladys. In the year 2006 this mother would sit by the gate we would pass by everyday asking us to find sponsors for her children. The committee beamed as they told me this family story. Mama Jashmin is a Muslim, she didn't know that a man named Jesus was her Savior too! All she knew is that her children were starving to death, and could not attend school like other children. Now two years later she wants to know more about the people who brought her family out of despair. She wants to know "why they would care for her"? When she was told about Jesus and his love for her, she now could understand his love. The sponsor families who stepped forward to support her family, became Jesus to her.  She now see's the Savior through the sacrifice made for her family. She now listens to the Salvation message of Christ and God's redeeming love for her. As I looked into the eyes of the members of the committee I saw such joy in telling her story. I said to myself, "what uncommon love is this, that people who have never met would show such love to others. It is God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit glowing in the face of a small child"  I am reminded of the awesome job I have! There is nothing this side of heaven to match the gift of seeing these dear one's meet Jesus for the first time! Being a  missionary to Kenya is such a Blessing, I can't thank you enough for your continued support!

I walked through the slum, and the children ran up to me excited to show me their house, excited to show me their new life, A life with new hope. As I looked into the eyes of the little children I saw Jesus and his great love for them.... Every day I close my eyes and I see the children, their smiles, their little bodies looking so much healthier, what a gift! God is so Good!

Thank you for giving to those less fortunate. Those in need of a Savior, and his love.

The following was sent to me this week and I would like to pass it on to you.

The worst of all times is the best of all times for missions. Here is the truth I hear in those words.

  • During an economic downturn we are more dependent on God. That is the most fertile soil for creating missionaries.
  • During an economic downturn un reached people around the world do not expect you to come, but to look out for yourself. So they may more likely see your risk as love rather than exploitation.
  • During an economic downturn those who need Christ around the world may be less secure in earthly things and more ready to hear about eternal life.

During an economic downturn people at home may be wakened to the brevity of life and the fragility of material things, and so may become more generous not less. And when they give under these circumstances, it will make Christ look all the more like the all-satisfying Treasure that he is.

And so it may well prove to be that the worst of all times is the best of all times for missions. (John Piper)

Would you prayerfully consider giving a gift to some that have been hit hardest by the global economic crises and need to know Christ,

There are still many more children living the life of despair will you consider being Jesus to them? I love you all so much!
